About DISConsulting IT
We're a growing managed service provider in Basingstoke, supporting SMEs, charities and non-profit organisations with IT, telecoms and network services. We value reliable service, strong customer relationships, teamwork and continuous learning.
The role
Been the go-to engineer at a small MSP for years, turning your hand to M365, servers, networks, firewalls and anything else a customer throws at you, and not sure where the next step is?
This role is built for people like you. This is a hands-on IT Security Engineer role, not a SOC role. You'll use the broad skills you already have to secure customer environments, and we'll train you in security properly. Security is the job here, not something you squeeze in between tickets.
Already working in security and want more ownership and more customer contact? We'd like to hear from you too.
What you'll be doing
- Securing Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune and endpoints across customer environments
- Investigating and fixing security incidents
- Delivering Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus readiness work
- Reviewing vulnerabilities and coordinating remediation
- Security assessments, customer projects and meetings
- Working with our Service Desk on security escalations
What we're looking for
- 3+ years of hands-on IT support or engineering (2nd/3rd line, systems or infrastructure), ideally in an MSP. 5+ years is ideal
- Solid Microsoft 365, Windows, networking and endpoint knowledge, with a bit of everything else
- You may already be doing security work informally, such as MFA and Conditional Access rollouts, hardening or incident clean-up, and want it to be your job
- A logical, investigative approach to problems
- You take ownership and get things done
- Confident and professional with customers
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for customer sites
- Living within commuting distance of Basingstoke, with the right to work in the UK. We can't offer visa sponsorship
- Happy working from our Basingstoke office, with the option of one day a week from home after probation
Security+, SC-900, SC-200 or AZ-500 are useful but not essential.
Customer experience matters
We can develop your security skills. You need to bring the right attitude. Our customers trust us with their businesses, so we expect our engineers to respect that, communicate clearly, take ownership and care about doing the right thing.
What you'll get
- £40,000 to £50,000 depending on experience
- Paid training and certifications, including Security+ and Microsoft security certifications
- Vendor training and attendance at cyber security and vendor events
- 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, with extra days for long service
- Laptop, mobile and business mileage
- Wellbeing platform
- Company pension
- Based in our Basingstoke office, working alongside the team. After probation, you can work from home one day a week
Where this can go
We're small enough that this role matters. The right person can take real ownership of how we deliver security to customers. We can't promise a title or a timescale, but we'll back someone who earns it with training, responsibility and a say in how we build our security services.
